YOU DO NOT NEED TO BE ACCEPTED TO THE UNIVERSITY IN ORDER TO AUDITION.
In addition to your application to the University, you also must separately apply to the Department of Ballet. The Department of Ballet application can be found here.
Applications to the Department must be received prior to audition to avoid late charges. You must pre-register to attend an in-person audition. Applications are not accepted the day of the audition at our Salt Lake auditions.
DVD applications (for out-of-state students) are due February 24, 2015.
Special arrangements can be made for in-person auditions during regular class periods. Please see the Ballet Audition Application Packet below.
When flying to Utah please book your return trip so that you do not need to be to the airport any earlier than 2:00 PM on the day of the audition.
Registration for auditions will take place in the foyer of the Marriott Center for Dance, in the northwest area of the building beginning 1 hour prior to the audition start time.
The audition will consist of a ballet technique class and a pointe class.
ALL audition participants will be considered for acceptance to the Department of Ballet and for scholarships, both in-state and out-of-state students. Application for Department scholarships require a 500-word essay telling, “Why you want to dance at the U of U, what your aspirations are while you are here and after graduation.”
Those attending auditions that are not held at the MCD will need to send in a DVD or video links to email@example.com with elements of the required DVD Audition and a clip from a performance where they are highlighted within a 4-month period prior to the due date on February 24, 2015 in order to be considered by the faculty for scholarships.
Salt Lake City audition dates for the 2015-16 year will be November 15, 2014 and February 21, 2015
